Synopsis of A Red Roof on the Slope
The story begins with a quiet residential area and a house with a red roof. 18 years ago, the parents were killed and dismembered in this house by their biological daughter Ayako Aota and her lover Hideyuki Ogura. Ogura published an autobiography "Too Early", admitting that he had kidnapped young girls in the past. In the trial, brainwashed Ayako was convicted as the murderer, while the mastermind Ogura was sentenced to death and Ayako to life imprisonment. Years later, serving as the editor of "Too Early", Ogura's wife Rie Ogura, along with the new writer Sanae Ogura under the guidance of Ryo Hashimoto, brought a novel project based on the incident. In order to serialize the novel, Rie, Ogura's ex-lover, editor Minami Tsuboi, Hashimoto, and Sanae are conducting interviews with relevant persons such as Ayako Ichikawa. However, the two of them are soon entangled in the jealousy and inferiority complex of the related parties.
