Synopsis:
A quiet town in northeastern China, Lan River, is stirred by a bizarre murder case. A prominent local company, Hongqiao Group, experiences a homicide where three people are killed overnight. Suspect Yang Si (played by 胡军) is captured during his escape but Chief Detective Guan Yu (played by 陈建斌) discovers numerous suspicious points during interrogation. Guan finds that the original wife of Hongqiao, Wang Ping (played by 邓家佳), seems to have intricate ties to the case. As Guan's investigation deepens, a series of northeastern events spanning from 1990 to 2005 come to light.
